Great post. Especially appreciate differentiating between “problem” and “customer” led. It’s easy to be customer led and think your being problem led. You have to be willing to ignore them in the name of focus on the problem.

I hate that Ford quote tho. I don’t think people would have said faster horses. I think they would have shared all sorts of problems they had with horses that would have illuminated ford. I’ve heard a lot of PMs use that quote as an excuse not to do the hard work of talking to customers. And it’s misguided - Customers aren’t stupid. They can and will articulate their problems. Even if it means you do need to filter and be creative in understanding their Answers.
